How It Works

The Roboclean Multi Wash operates as a fully automated multi-stage pipeline. Watch the sequence below — baskets load continuously from the staging area and advance through each process tank until they exit clean and dry.

01

Staging / Load

Baskets filled with fasteners are loaded at the staging area. The automated hoist picks up each basket and delivers it to Tank 1 — no manual handling required once loaded.

02

Tank 1 — Wash

Parts enter the primary wash tank where heated detergent solution (up to 160°F) removes machining oils, cutting fluids, grease, and surface contaminants.

03

Tank 2 — Rinse 1

A hot-water cascade rinse removes detergent carry-over, ensuring no residual chemistry remains on the fastener surfaces before the next stage.

04

Tank 3 — Rinse 2

A second clean-water rinse stage guarantees complete detergent removal. This is critical for passivation processes and aerospace cleanliness standards.

05

Tank 4/5 — Dry

Parts move into the heated blow-off and drying stage. Forced hot air and radiant heat ensure fasteners exit fully dry, ready for inspection, packaging, or installation.

Automated Hoist Transfer System

The overhead hoist trolley travels the full length of the rail — from the staging area all the way to the exit — picking up each basket only after it has completed its full soak dwell time in the current tank. All tanks operate simultaneously: while the hoist transfers one basket forward, every other tank is actively processing its own basket. This keeps the pipeline fully loaded and maximizes throughput with zero idle time.

Optional Add-Ons & Upgrades

The Roboclean platform is modular — each tank can be configured independently with one or more of the following cleaning technologies to match your specific part geometry and cleanliness requirements:

Deep Clean

Ultrasonics

Ultrasonic transducers bonded to the tank walls generate millions of microscopic cavitation bubbles per second. This implosion energy scrubs blind holes, threads, and recessed features that spray nozzles and agitation cannot reach — ideal for aerospace-grade cleanliness.

Can be combined with other options ›

Mechanical Agitation

Spray Under Immersion

Submerged spray manifolds direct pressurized jets of solution directly at parts while they are fully immersed in the tank. The combined action of hydraulic pressure and full liquid contact provides excellent cleaning on complex geometries without surface damage.

Can be combined with other options ›

General Purpose

Agitation Only

A turbine or pump agitates the solution, creating continuous fluid movement around the parts. Effective for general-purpose cleaning where chemistry alone can do the work — a cost-effective configuration for standard fastener wash and rinse stages.

Can be combined with other options ›

Full Coverage

360° Rotation

Rotor baskets spin continuously inside the tank — parts tumble through the solution in a full 360-degree rotation, ensuring every surface, thread, and crevice is exposed to fresh chemistry on every revolution. Ideal for high-volume small fasteners and bulk hardware.

Can be combined with other options ›

Oil Sweep

Oil Filtration

Continuous overflow weir oil sweep removes floating oils from the tank surface before they can redeposit on clean parts. Oil-laden solution cascades over the internal weir, passes through filter media, and is pumped back clean — extending bath life and reducing change-out intervals.

Can be combined with other options ›

All options can be combined — ultrasonics, spray under immersion, agitation, 360° rotation, and oil filtration can each be applied to individual tanks or across all stages. We configure each system to your exact application.

Premium Option

Oil Sweep Filtration System

State-of-the-art continuous oil removal — engineered to keep your wash bath clean, extend chemical life, and eliminate oil redeposition on parts.

How the Overflow Weir Works

01

Oils Float to the Surface

Machining oils, cutting fluids, and hydrocarbon contaminants removed from parts are lighter than water — they naturally float to the top of the wash or rinse tank solution.

02

Overflow Weir Sweeps the Surface

An internal overflow weir wall is positioned just below the solution surface level. Oil-laden surface liquid continuously cascades over the top of the weir and into a separate collection chamber — the "oil sweep" effect means the surface is perpetually skimmed clean.

03

Oil Filters Capture the Contamination

The overflow from the weir chamber drains down through dedicated oil filter media. The filters trap and coalesce the oil droplets, separating them from the aqueous solution. Captured oils accumulate in the filter for periodic disposal — no manual skimming required.

04

Clean Solution Recirculated Back

The now oil-free solution is pumped back up from the filter assembly and returned into the main tank — completing a continuous closed-loop recirculation cycle. The tank surface stays clean at all times, even during active washing.

Why It Matters — No Redeposition

Without oil removal, floating oils sit on the tank surface. Every time a basket is lifted out of the tank, parts pass back through the oil layer — redepositing the very contaminants you just washed off. This defeats the purpose of cleaning and can cause part rejection, coating adhesion failures, and passivation defects.

The oil sweep system prevents this entirely. Parts exit through a surface that is continuously swept clean — so the last thing to contact your parts before they reach the rinse stage is clean, oil-free solution.

Extended
Chemical Bath Life
Less frequent fluid change-outs
Continuous

No manual skimming needed
Zero

Lower operating cost over time

Extends Tank Bath Life Significantly

By continuously removing oils from the bath, the cleaning chemistry stays concentrated and effective for far longer. Fewer change-outs mean less chemical cost, less waste disposal, and less planned downtime — a direct reduction in total cost of ownership for your washing system.

Continuous Feed System

Continuous Drum Washer

The ultimate high-throughput solution for bulk fastener and small-part cleaning — continuous feed, zero handling, fully automatic wash-rinse-dry in a single rotating drum.

What Is a Drum Washer?

A drum washer — also called a barrel washer or continuous tumble washer — is a long, inclined rotating cylinder with internal helical flights (a corkscrew-shaped auger) running its full length. Parts are loaded through a hopper at the inlet end, and the rotating drum's flights grab and tumble them forward, station by station, through multiple cleaning zones inside the same machine.

Unlike batch washers that stop and start, a drum washer never stops — parts are feeding in at one end while clean parts are falling out the other. This makes them ideal for ammunition shells, small machined fasteners, stampings, rivets, and any high-volume small part that can tolerate tumbling.

Inside the drum, parts are simultaneously submerged in solution, hit with spray nozzles, and tumbled by the helical flights — every surface, thread, and bore is exposed to fresh chemistry continuously. When the drum is long enough, multiple distinct process zones (wash → rinse 1 → rinse 2 → hot-air dry) are all contained in one machine.

How the Helical Flight Works

01

Parts Load via Hopper

Bulk parts are poured or conveyed into the hopper at the inlet. No baskets, no fixtures — just parts directly into the drum.

02

Drum Rotates & Flights Advance Parts

The angled corkscrew flights inside the drum pick up parts on each rotation and push them forward — like a screw conveyor — toward the exit end. The drum is also slightly inclined to assist gravity travel.

03

Spray + Immersion + Tumbling

As parts are advanced, they are tumbled through wash solution, hit by spray manifolds mounted inside the drum, and continuously reoriented — ensuring all surfaces clean simultaneously.

04

Zone Separation Inside One Drum

Internal weir plates or chamber dividers separate the wash, rinse, and dry zones without stopping part travel — the drum handles multiple chemistries in a single enclosed body.

05

Parts Exit Clean & Dry

Clean, rinsed, and dried parts tumble out the exit end continuously — ready for inspection, packaging, or immediate use.
